I have always believed that finding balance and maintaining it are two very different things! Once we find it, we need to try and maintain it, and let’s face it life happens!
My previous blog was so long ago! Blog | Northern Balance This was not my plan, I had lots to share and chat to you about, but life happened and somehow it is already June!
Anyhow, lots of lovely, amazing things have happened and It’s time to share! Yoga is what I am sharing in this one. I absolutely love Yoga!
My Yoga journey started when I was pregnant with my first baby, I joined a pregnancy yoga class, partly because I was curious and I wanted to meet other Mums. I found it such an amazing experience and met women who are, still friends over 10 years on and whose babies were my daughters first best friends! To this day I still have my first yoga mat I bought for this class!
I even went into labour at my pregnancy yoga class and went off to hospital in an ambulance from it. It was not the evening everyone thought we were going to have and didn’t end in the usual relaxing way for my friends! But, all was well and that baby is about to turn eleven! Just to add the ambulance part, was not the caused by the yoga, but my placenta!
So fast forward to my second baby and I did baby yoga classes with him, which we both loved, and it felt amazing to do something that was helping me to build up strength again, stretch and relax. In this class we also made lifelong friends, and my son has had shared birthday parties with his friend he made in these classes.
Over the following years I have practiced so many types of Yoga including Aerial, Iyengar, Hatha, Vinyasa, Forrest, and Restorative. I never imagined I would ever become a yoga teacher. Although I have always wanted a different career and lifestyle to the one I had during my nursing career.
Then this year, even when I decided to do by Baby Yoga instructor training, I still never considered I would be able to do my adult yoga training. However, as I started the baby yoga training, I knew I needed to, as I really wanted to be able to give a better all-round experience for the Mums coming to my classes and be able to give them more benefit from attending. Therefore, I took a leap and started learning to teach. I wasn’t sure how long it would take, what the journey would be like, I just started….
It has been a bit of a journey, but I have learnt so much and am grateful for being able to do it. I did take a pause throughout the training, after my Grandad died, as I just didn’t connect with my mat for several months. Once I finally did, then I have so appreciated continuing my yoga journey and the balance it has given me. Whether it has been a two-hour yoga asana or a quick 10 mins stretch before bed the benefits are amazing.
Then at the end of May, I did it! Fully qualified and I cannot describe in words how excited I felt!
So, this is the start of Yoga being integrated with what I offer within Northern Balance Wellness. Yoga for me has given me balance, friendships, help restore after grief and added to the holistic practices that I enjoy so much. Yoga builds a community, and this is the start of the one at Northern Balance Wellness, so sign up and come along with me and enjoy the journey!
